Multi-GAAP Reporting

Updated September 2026Finance Software Glossary

Multi-GAAP reporting is the production of financial statements under more than one accounting framework from the same underlying data, such as US GAAP for a parent and IFRS or a local GAAP for subsidiaries. It requires tracking framework-specific adjustments in parallel so each set of books stays complete and auditable.

Any group with entities in multiple countries faces this. A German subsidiary of a US parent files locally under HGB, reports to the parent under US GAAP and may also need IFRS figures for a European lender. The differences are real: lease accounting, development cost capitalization, provisions and revenue timing can all diverge between frameworks. The standard approach is one base ledger plus adjustment layers, so a single trial balance produces each framework's view without duplicate bookkeeping.

Spreadsheet versions of this break quickly because every adjustment has to be maintained in every framework every period. Missing one layer means restating.

In software: CCH Tagetik and OneStream support parallel accounting standards natively, with separate adjustment members per framework. Pigment ships multi-GAAP starter kits covering IFRS, US GAAP, UK GAAP and French GAAP for mid-market groups.
